Button, button

Button, button, who's got the button?

Inspired by a display of button bracelets at Broadway & Penn, it was finally time to do something with my grandma's buttons.  They have been stored for years in old jelly jars.  First in her attic and more recently in my basement.

I love the colorful buttons.  They remind me of the happy faces of pansies and Grandma's garden.  There were always volunteer pansies and violas popping up somewhere in her yard.

My daughter prefers the metal buttons and hers has the look of a charm bracelet.  Spending time with my daughter making the bracelets was a wonderful way to finish up the year and talk about the past while dreaming of the future.

  1. What a cool idea! I love the look of these. How did you attach the buttons to the bracelet. I have a bunch of old buttons too and this looks like a fun winter project. ;)

  3. I love this idea and have so many buttons I don't know what to do with. How did you attach them to the chain and where did you get the chain? So pretty!

  4. Thanks for the comments, what a nice surprise! I bought the chain and supplies from at the Heartland Bead Market in Lenexa, Kansas. They were very helpful with measuring and cutting the chain, and attaching the circle and bar at the ends. The buttons are held on to the chain by loops. I just twisted them, slid them on the chain and on the buttons and then twisted them back closed. Since the store did the hard part, it was easy.
